Forgotten champions?
Not every title is remembered equally.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. The week begins with more football nostalgia, with a total of five new fresh pieces of retro content coming your way.

Today we’re going to look at two “forgotten champions”. These are clubs who won the league but perhaps their successes are not looked back on the same as other title winning seasons. It’s not through any fault of their own and their supporters will remember the successful campaigns, but outside of that, they don’t get as much of a mention as others.

First off, we’re going to the 1980s and a second championship that decade for Everton. When people think of this golden period for the Toffees, immediately mentioned is the 1984/85 season.

Already FA Cup winners in 1984 against Watford, during the following campaign, Everton steamrolled everyone to win the league. They also won the European Cup Winners’ Cup before losing the FA Cup final to Manchester United.
