The top scorers throughout the 90s

Recently I saw on social media that former Crystal Palace and Coventry City defender Richard Shaw was singing the praises of his former teammate Ian Wright, who was celebrating his birthday. Shaw then listed off a number of quality attackers he played with or came up against.

So I decided to lookback at the top scorers of the English top-flight throughout the 1990s, a period where Shaw was a fixture in the heart of the defence for the two clubs I mentioned earlier.

I’m only concentrating on league goals, there were certain strikers who had great seasons but their statistics were spread around different competitions.

So firstly let’s go back to the season that crossed two decades; 1989/90.
