Back in the 1990s, we saw some one-season wonders. These were teams that came up into the Premier League before being relegated the following year. The perfect example of this is Swindon Town, who are now stuck in the fourth tier but 30 years ago were taking on the big guns.

At the same time as clubs like Swindon, there were others that came up and were able to stay there for a bit. Nottingham Forest came 3rd in 1995 before going down in 1997 for example. But back in the 1997/98 season, all three teams that were promoted suffered the same fate.

Let’s have a look who they were and what happened.

Crystal Palace
The Eagles had already suffered two relegations during the decade, going down in 1993 and 1995. But a dramatic late play-off win at Wembley against Sheffield United in 1997 saw them promoted again.
